XP, at least 'normal' XP is 32bit, and can't handle more than 4Gb, However, most of the last Gb is used for address space for that things, (graphics and paging, i think), so if you have more than 3Gb on a 32bit machine, it's pretty much a waste. To do more than that, you need (as far as windows goes...

the Asda's up the road do 2-for-3 on ales, incl Hob, so you'll be able to pick up a dozen easy -altough they also do other Wychwood ones, and the Cider, Green Goblin- there actually pretty good, up there
