32bit limit is 4gb.
XP (32bit) can access all 4gb fine if memory map is enabled, and you have certain hardware. Though in SysProp it will show 3.25gb. Check with MSInfo and it will show the full count.

And no, Video RAM has nothing to do with it showing 3.25gb. It's limited to this due to MMIO between 3-4gb of memory space.

What monitor you interested in? I can get a standard 17" tft from work for you to borrow over the weekend. I'll see if we actually have any 19". infact my monitor at work might be 19" I'll check.

XP, at least 'normal' XP is 32bit, and can't handle more than 4Gb, However, most of the last Gb is used for address space for that things, (graphics and paging, i think), so if you have more than 3Gb on a 32bit machine, it's pretty much a waste.

To do more than that, you need (as far as windows goes) either XP-64 (which I've heard bad things about, but is apparantly not Too bad now), or a 64 bit edition of Vista

I think this offer is somewhat overshadowed but I do have a spare 15 (maybe even 14!) inch flatscreen monitor here. Can't say its colour accuracy is all that either... but if its needed, it's here! :)

8) Cool. Thanks all! D3TH I've been looking and you got complicated transport plans, so Thanks but I won bother you.
Could I lend the services offered by Yazzor? this would be fantastic. Not sure what sepprates yazor and KF's offers of help, But if i didn't just accept one who knows how many generous offers I'd have to choose from! I hate deciding, you never know who would be most put out by helping!
Thanks Golem very kind, I think I should at least owe, a few drinks around, esp D3TH, KF, Golem and Autarkus, any paticular tipple? and probably a long shot for a 20y/o single malt, so fairly simple and it may happen :D

the main difference between me and Yaz is that he has to travel around 4 hours to get to the LAN, while my house is 10-15 minutes away ;)

Im planning on bringing my wife's pc as a backup incase anything goes pearshaped with mine, so if I do remember to put it in the car and mine is running fine then you would be welcome to borrow it, however if you killed it you would have to suffer the wrath that is my missus.

Wow isn't that so Yazor!
Sounds like i made a few prusumptions in my last note, sorry just had to make a difficult choise, I hate having to ask people for stuff. But sometimes it has to be done. :(
I think at this moment I plan to bring my pc and all those bits associated minus monitor :D

Thaks to you Evilgangsta, if you do decide to do all those things, and you don't feel repulsed by me or what ever reason any person may not take a shine to someone, could i ask to borrow in case of a cod4 match etc? I would be perfectly happy for my machiene all othertimes. And this is a month off so much could change. who knows i may win the lottery! (even if i don't play)

And of course, if by some stroke of misfortune any damage in done to anything i'm borrowing I will most deffinatly replace, cmpensate! what ever seems appropriate. Hopefully obvious but worth saying!

Thanks all once again! can't wate to see you all! where I shall willfully throw my self before your bullets! feel really humble atm :D
